Here at the family owned Pennington Quality Market (or PQM, as it’s often known), we have a mission: To continually earn the trust and confidence of our customers and our community. We are committed to providing the finest in quality, variety and service as we strive to offer our customers the greatest value for each shopping trip. We are continually innovating and exploring avenues to make our Market an exceptional environment, both to shop and to work. At PQM these fundamental principles we strive to fulfill every day are the foundations of our Market. They are the very things that reward us with the precious trust of our customers and our community. It’s a mission that has helped make us grow from our beginnings in 1960. Back then, the store was owned and operated by the McVeigh brothers. In 1981, Larry Rothwell purchased the Market and embarked on an expansion and remodeling strategy designed to meet the changing needs and desires of his customers. Among the additions were Bakery and Seafood Departments, an expanded Deli to include prepared foods, gourmet cheese and much more. Later a full service Catering Department and the Flower Shop of Pennington Market were added. A more recent addition is the PQM Café, which offers our customers a place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee, sandwich or snack.

Larry’s dreams for a family owned business were realized when his son Michael joined the business in l990 followed by daughter Barbara in 1992. Together they manage a loyal and dedicated team of over 150 PQM Associates who come to work each day with a mission to provide quality, variety, and great customer service to your shopping experience.

With 60 years of family tradition throughout the community PQM is your neighborhood market. We are your market, your way, every day!

Supporting Our Community

Pennington Quality Market is an active and involved member of the community, supporting a tremendous number of local school, church, community, youth and athletic endeavors. PQM has also earned many service awards for our local sponsorship.

The Market conceived and inaugurated a program in 1994 called “Fight Cancer Day”, which brings together community leaders, health screening, vendors and entertainment to raise money for cancer research. To date, PQM has raised and contributed over $250,000 to enhance services and support in the fight against cancer.  PQM provides weekly food donations to the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen. PQM is also a major benefactor for the Hopewell Valley YMCA.

For more information on how PQM might help support your local group contact Mike Rothwell at the Market.
